Vitamin E
d-alpha tocopherol

This can't be said often enough: When vitamin E is evaluated, the form of the vitamin is crucial. Too often we've seen vitamin E intervention studies (including some in the Hopkins research) that used a synthetic form or an inferior form of the vitamin. Dr. Spreen: "No one should be taking the synthetic form of the nutrient (dl-alpha tocopherol - it should be d-alpha tocopherol at least. Even better is to take 'mixed' tocopherols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma). Also, vitamin E functions better when it's mixed with selenium."

It's SO SIMPLE! As with all vitamins, there are different forms. Use the wrong form and you get poor results. Use the proper form and you get good results.

Note: Vitamin E supplementation is not recommended for Blood Type O because it thins the blood and may complicate the tendency of slower blood clotting. Vitamin K is essential for clot formation (Kale, spinach, collard greens, liquid chlorophyll and

Aloe Vera Plant
From My Garden

Aloe Vera is a First Aide Gift from Nature
that Belongs in Every Home

Aloe Vera is a succulent genus species that has many well-known healing properties as well as many ways to use it. It can be used topically on the skin and taken internally to soothe problems associated with digestion. Aloe juice benefits the digestive system by breaking down impacted fecal matter and brings relief from the build up of toxins in the digestive system. The inspissated juice of several species of aloe, used as a purgative (American aloe, Century aloe, the agave). Its properties used internally also make blood cells flow more smoothly when administered to patients experiencing severe trauma and blood loss.

I grow and harvest various aloe species to use topically to help soothe sunburns, burns, blisters, mosquito bites, rashes, cuts and scrapes. As a natural antiseptic, aloe protects from infection and accelerates the body's healing. I observed from cutting off an aloe leaf that it seals itself up with no harm done to the rest of the plant. This sealing effect of the gel does the same thing to the skin pulling it together like a suture once it's dried in the air. The mucilage properties of aloe act as sealant creating a natural band aid or suture that protects and soothes various skin issues.

With consistent use aloe will successfully diminish scars or shrink a pimple. I discovered that aloe's visco-elastic properties make a great cosmetic gel and in the place of foundation for clear smooth complexion. Simply smear the aloe evenly on your face and neck and let it fully dry, then apply blush if you wear make-up. Aloe is also a great degreaser for oily skin used in this way.

So for a natural first aide simply go out to your garden or pot and cut off one of the leaves. Then slice off the outer skin of the leaf and liberally apply to wherever needed. Store any unused portion in the refrigerator for later use. For internal use puree the aloe gel (no peels) in a blender with a clean source of water or create a juice smoothie and drink it! Refreshing!

Rose Flowers and Petals

Rose Flowers and Petals are primarily a water element that produces a heavy, warm, aromatic scent with just a hint of sharpness. The scent lasts a long time after burning which makes it excellent for meditation, divination, increasing psychic abilitie & communication, and contacting powers and beings in other dimensions. Rose is traditionally associated with attracting love, conferring peace, stimulating sexual appetites and enhancing beauty.

Maintaining A Healthy Organic Lawn

  • There's no need to water your lawn more than an inch per week. Over-watering is unhealthy for lawns and invites lawn disease. Placing a tuna can under the sprinkler will help gauge water depth. Water early in the morning to avoid excessive evaporation from midday sun.
  • Taller grass has deeper roots, causing the plants to need less watering. Set mower height to 3 inches and cut grass when it reaches 4.5 inches.
  • Sharpen mower blades. Dull blades harm grass blades, inviting disease.
  • Return grass clippings to the lawn. Grass mulching decreases weeds up to 60% and is a natural fertilizer.
Avoid cheap grass seed, as it typically has weed seeds mixed in. Get good quality perennial rye and fescue seeds.
  • Each time you mow, try alternating your pattern and path. This prevents the soil from compacting.
Soil biota helps provide a stable healthy lawn. If your lawn has been treated chemically, it will take a couple of years for the soil microorganisms to rebuild.

The Perfect Cup Sustainably Produced Coffee

Coffee Protects Drinker's Livers: A study published in the journal "Archives of Internal Medicine" indicates that coffee may greatly reduce the risk of liver damage in those who consume alcohol regularly. Every daily cup of coffee reduced the incidence of cirrhosis, a condition that destroys liver tissue, by 22 percent. The results "should not be interpreted as giving a license to drink without worry, because of all the other problems connected with drinking." adding, "the only proper advice is to drink less," says Dr. Arthur Klatsky.

NEW FOOD LABEL HIGHLIGHTS LOCALLY GROWN PRODUCTS

A new certification and labeling system has been launched in Western Montana that goes a step beyond federal "USDA Organic." The Western Montana Sustainable Growers Union has launched the "Homegrown" label, which guarantees that products sold to consumers are not only organic, but were also produced within a 150 mile radius. The Homegrown label also aims to promote fair labor practices. Farmers with the Homegrown certification are also urged to purchase supplies locally to keep money in the community. According to Lynn Byczynski, editor and publisher of Growing for Market, a national magazine dedicated to farmers' markets, "What they (the Growers Union) are doing there is not uncommon. There are groups like this bubbling up all over the place in response to the corporate takeover of organics.

-23% of U.S. consumers now buy organics at least weekly.

-"Organic" has replaced the word "natural" as the mainstream food buzzword.

-Asian Americans and Latino/Hispanic Americans are more likely to purchase organics than Caucasians.

-African Americans are more likely to be what the Hartman Group calls "Core Organic Consumers," those most involved in the organics world.

Genetically Engineered Crops May Produce Herbicide Inside Our Intestines-Glufosinate ammonium is structurally similar to a natural amino acid called glutamic acid, which can stimulate the central nervous system and, in excess levels, cause the death of nerve cells in the brain. The common reactions to glufosinate poisoning in humans include unconsciousness, respiratory distress and convulsions. One study also linked the herbicide with a kidney disorder.

Aspartame is a Multi-Carcinogen-It is used as a measure to control or lose weight, which couldn't be further from the truth from what it really does. Aspartame increases the incidence of malignant tumours in rats. In the females it increases leukaemia and lymphomas, as well as cancerous cells in the pelvis and urethra. In the males, it especially increases the incidence of malignant tumours in peripheral nerves. The carcinogenic effect in children could be greater (because of their lower weight). The carcinogenic agents have a stronger effect on the embryo, which is why pregnant women are at greater risk.

Three decades after a Californian doctor linked hyperactivity to preservatives and additives, Aussie kids are still consuming them. Australian toddlers are consuming almost double the amount of preservatives and additives the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends.

They include: acids, acidity regulators, anticaking agents, antifoaming agents, antioxidants, bulking agents, food colouring agents, colour retention agents, emulsifiers, flavours, flavour enhancers, flour treatment agents, humectants, preservatives, propellants, stabilisers, sweeteners, thickeners.
They are found in many foods, including some cordials, soft drinks, toppings, dairy and dessert products.

The Essence of Well Being

A Day without Fragrance is a day lost!

Essential Oils to Support the
Journey of Self-Discovery I

Through the gift of flowers and plant essences bestowed by Mother Earth and designed by God the whole person can be treated in body, mind and spirit. Bio-tech or man-made chemical odorants do not have the physio-psychospiritual benefits of nature. Real essential oils contain solar energy whose synthesis provides the power and effectiveness to affect negative mood states bringing balance to the mind and emotions. The solar life force in essential oils and their scents has long been used in the ascension process to reform character and personality characteristics while enhancing spirituality. Synthetics on the other hand simply seek to replicate a particular smell with a combination of chemicals and do not have the capacity to heal or even to perform antibacterial or anti-viral activities that many essential oils are well known for. In fact, synthetics are not designed to be beneficial at all other than to satisfy commercial interests by inducing behavioral change operating at a subliminal level.

Always use high quality essential oils and be sure to know the source from where they come and how they are processed. The following are fragrances to support the transformation process as we spiral through stages that release us from the limitations that stand between the egoic personality and the awareness of our Soul.

Fear of Letting Go Frankincense, Rose Maroc, Cypress & Galbanham
Self-awareness Clary sage, sandalwood, mandarin, bay, jasmine, coriander, myrtle, ylang ylang, geranium, pine,
clove, ormenis flower, angelica seed, pimento berry, cistus

Letting go is the capacity to forge forward and allow process to sweep us in rhythm with the greater universal flow, while self-awareness enables us to connect with our authentic self and to strive for fulfillment. Self-awareness of how we think, feel and react contributes to emotional well-being as well as identify our hopes, fears and dreams. Letting go to process and self-awareness is primary in the evolutionary process of the soul.

Ratios
Essential oils can be used in diffusers (1-6 drops of essence), inhaled via tissue (1 drop) or steam vapor (2-3 drops), direct from the bottle singly or in blends. Do not use the essence directly on the skin. Always dilute using one drop of essential oil per ml of oil or 6-30 drops (depending on potency) per 1 oz=30ml or 2 tablespoons of base oil in a sterilized brown glass bottle. Store essential oils away from sunlight and homeopathic remedies.

From the Grapevine

Reservatrol is found in a wide range of edible plants particularly in grapes, but it is also found in berries and in peanuts. It is also an ingredient of red wine, red grape skins and seeds of purple grape juice.

Reservatrol is a moderate natural antioxidant (a polyphenol) that helps to destroy the free radical damage that can be linked to several cancers. It's anti-inflammatory properties lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels and is known to protect against a range of illnesses and diseases.

Reservatrol rich foods can result in the reduction of cardiovascular disease. A glass of red wine provides reservatrol.Taken in moderation red wine has been shown to be effective against heart disease: One or two glasses of red wine per day is suggested as a 'therapeutic' dose, but since it also provides alcohol and calories it can not be recommended as a cure due to the risks associated with drinking alcohol. No substantive clinical trials have been undertaken but 500mg of reservatrol daily is currently thought to be reasonable.

Reservatrol is also available in supplement form and without the alcohol and calories.
